Joe started playing in high school and was mostly self taught.

While in college he was the assistant director of the "Downbeat" award winning UMass Jazz Ensemble. Joe earned a BA in Jazz Piano Performance and a Masters Degree in Jazz Composition and Arranging from the University of Massachusetts.

When not with Locomotion, Joe is an active performer with various Jazz groups and has a roster of private students.
